PEPSI SKYMAGIC

NEW FOR 1999 - PEPSI SKYMAGIC!
CUSTOM INSTRUMENT PANEL BY AEROTRONICS, INC.
The newest addition to the Pepsi Aerial Entertainers aircraft is SkyMagic. In February, she completed her first appearance in Hawaii for Pepsi's 100th birthday celebration. Built especially for international events with her own dedicated 40 foot steel shipping container, SKYMAGIC is ready to go anywhere in the world for an event. She was built specifically for skywriting and night shows with an incredible amount of custom designed pyro (fireworks) on the plane. SKYMAGIC is also available for events in the North American continent in which the event desires skywriting and a night show. Prior to SKYMAGIC these two displays required both the SKYWRITER and the SKYDANCER. SKYMAGIC is the only one like it. A couple of super cubs are tricked up a little but with the help of all our friends this was made into the grandest of all super cubs. As a matter of fact we don't refer to it as a super cub, - the one and only, SKYMAGIC - made only of the finest products and workmanship. Let me give you some examples: Steve Dyer and his people at UNIVAIR AIRCRAFT CORPORATION in Denver Colorado built the wings. They happen to be close to our home. They were made bigger by getting rid of the rounded tip and continuing the spars out full length and full size. That let the ailerons move out 18 inches farther to the very end where there are big end plates for holding on the air and supporting lots of pyro for night shows. Flaps were extended 18 inches on the outboard end and built 5 inches more cord and extended a few inches in toward the fuselage so now they are bigger than a Cessna 185's flaps. VORTEX GENERATORS BY BOUNDARY LAYER RESEARCH, INC keep the airflow going correctly to fly real slow and flat (24 mph). Four 18.5 gallon fuel tanks with two of them convertable to smoke oil tanks to either go a long way or do a lot of skywriting. A lot of beefing up of spars and attach points and struts so its really a strong plane. Landing gear is made 6 inches longer because of the special built 90 inch long McCAULEY PROPELLER needed to clear the ground and it also makes it look cooler. Tail feathers were designed by Steve Wolf so they would be bigger to help take care of the 260 plus horsepower up front. The shape is different and there's no jack screw trim like cubs. It's all fixed with wires like an aerobatic plane so it doesn't shake like a cub. Oil cooler and battery are in the tail to help balance things out. The baggage compartment runs all the way to the tail so it can carry banners or snow skis or whatever. The cockpit area looks out-of-this-world. The instrument panel was custom designed by AEROTRONICS INC. and contains the entire spectrum of instruments, radios, autopilots and stuff and has fiber optic lighting especially for night shows. To talk to someone or figure out where the pilot is going, the II Morrow APOLLO GX 60 can't be beat- Easy, Affordable, Bright, Automatic, Smart and Simple so even the pilot can figure it out. The pilot is a real stickler for knowing what's going on with the engine so not only does he keep track with all the normal things like rpm, manifold pressure, oil temp and pressure, voltage and amps on his JPI SLIMLINE engine gauges but he also keeps track of fuel information and engine egt's, cht's, oat's and engine diagnostic needs with his JPI EDM 700. Long cross-countries are made easier with the CENTURY II AUTOPILOT. Most of the gyros and other gauges and lots of other parts and pieces came for Henry Lowe at LOWE AVIATION in MACON, GEORGIA. The chief pilot really likes comfort so the seats were special made by Mike and Jude Dennis of OREGON AERO. They're all done up in leather and wool over space age CONFOR which actually makes kind of a throne for the pilot. The Lycoming engine runs really smooth because of the fuel injector servo and fuel system built by AIRFLOW PERFORMANCE of Spartanburg, SC and they work great with the SLICK MAGNETOS that fire the CHAMPION SPARK PLUGS through the CHAMPION HARNESS. She's really beautiful on the outside also. She's painted in a very dark metallic blue SHERMAN WILLIAMS ACRY GLOW paint which really sparkles in the sun. It really sets off the big PEPSI LOGO'S. Night shows are incredible because of all the custom built pyro carried on the wings, struts and in a big belly box. Good smoking makes skywriting great. Finally, SKYMAGIC would never have flown without the support of the following wonderful companies. She is a magnificent and one of a kind airplane and everyone who has seen her agrees. We look forward to her being on display and viewed by thousands as she works around the world. (In alphabetical order) AIRFLOW PERFORMANCE AEROTRONICS, INC.
