CORINTH RESEARCH BIBLIOGRAPHY
Alcorn County Historical Association. THE HISTORY OF ALCORN COUNTY
MISSISSIPPI. Dallas, Texas: National ShareGraphics, Inc. 1983.
646-Page Volume with good local and family history articles.
Unfortunately, the publisher who arranged to publish many county
histories in the Southeast, failed to properly make many of the
corrections noted by the local editors. Illustrated with maps, drawings
and photographs. Indexed. The work abounds with references to ancestors
who served in the Civil War or had some experience as non-combatants.
Cochran, Fan Alexander. HISTORY OF OLD TISHOMINGO COUNTY MISSISSIPPI
TERRITORY. Oklahoma City, OK: Barnhart Printing Co. 1st Printing 1969,
2nd Printing 1971, 3rd Printing 1972.
Information abstracted from a 1903 Corinth, Mississippi, newspaper,
special edition by Samuel M. Nabors. There are several other reprints
from the original newspaper. Cochran's book is the only one indexed.
Pages 177 - 217 provide a list of soldiers who served from Old Tishomingo
County, Miss., or moved into the area. The original 1903 list is not
complete as soldier's names and other information is sometime suspect.
All in all, a good place to begin.
Cockrell, Monroe F. THE LOST ACCOUNT OF THE BATTLE OF CORINTH AND
COURT-MARTIAL OF GEN. VAN DORAN BY AN UNKNOWN AUTHOR -- Introduction and
Informal Essay on the Battle by Monroe F. Cockrell. Wilmington, NC:
Broadfoot Publishing Company, Route 4, Box 508C Wilmington, North
Carolina 28405. 1987.

Cowart-Mercer Press. Inc.

COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI CEMETERY RECORDS. Memphis, Tenn.: Thomas P. Hughes,
Jr., 4140 Chanwil Ave., Memphis, Tenn. 38117. [1971].
This reference cites tombstone inscriptions with Civil War information.
It does not include Corinth National Cemetery nor known African-American
cemeteries. Although a good effort, many tombstones were omitted.
Indexed almost in alphabetical order by surname with some omissions.
Rogers, Margaret Green. CIVIL WAR CORINTH 1861-1865. Privately
printed by Margaret G. Rogers by the Rankin Printery, Corinth, MS. 1987.

and oral traditions. Sources are briefly referenced and credited.

Corinth, MS 38835. [1994].
This volume is a compilation of local anecdotes, tales, and legends.
Many of the articles lack proper references. Although the original
sources are often not cited nor credited this work makes interesting
reading.
