DALTON, HENRY CONN: 1909 - <MW008>
Henry Conn Dalton, son of Terry James and Walne Conn Dalton, was born
in Rienzi, Mississippi, on April 18, 1909. He received the B.A., with
honors from Union University (1930) in English; he also holds a
graduate certificate in piano from that school. For nine years he
taught English and mathematics in the Alcorn County (Mississippi)
high schools (1930-39); he also has taught piano and has given many
recitals. From 1939 to 1969 he worked as a clerk in the Corinth post
office. In 1954, his first collection of poetry, HILL BORN, won the
Kaleidograph Book Publication Contest.
