    ROSCOE TURNER
         MAKES AIR HISTORY
              IN CALIFORNIA

    ----------------

A paragraph of no apparent outstanding importance in a
general way appeared in the Associated Press dispatches today under a
Santa Ana, Calif. date line. But it was important to Corinthians. It
announced that for the first time in the history of flying an airplane
with its motor cut off had been successfully lowered from a height of
5000 feet and that Roscoe Turner of this city was the successful aviator.
The parachute released from the ship by a coil spring took up the
weight of the ship which was 2800 pounds, after a drop of 200 feet. The
parachute was 60 feet in diameter.
Capt. Roscoe Turner is stunt flier at Hollywood and is doing
things for the films that put thrills into thousands of moving picture
audiences daily, without anyone knowing the name of the flier that is
daily putting his life in hazard for the entertainment of the public.
But Roscoe has shown that he is getting what is termed "a kick"
out of that sort of thing and manifestly his nation wide audiences are
getting a kick. He has had a wonderful career as a daring aviator, doing
hundreds and hundreds of stunts that appear the impossible and require a
steady nerve and fine balance at all times.

    ROSCOE TURNER
         FLYING PICTURES
              COMING TO CITY

A letter from the Universal Film Exchange at Memphis to Manager
Liddon of the Coliseum, states that the scenes of Capt. Roscoe Turner in
aeroplane landing stunt performed in California a few weeks ago, will be
    in the News Reels.
However, the film management was not certain whether it would be
in the News Reel of Saturday or Monday. Corinthians are much interested
in that performance, as Capt. Turner is a Corinth product. Mr. Liddon
states he will give out definite information as soon as it is received by
    him.
