The first step of Col. Roscoe Turner's dream of "aviation for

Municipal Airport.
Operated as a contract charter service, the Stinson plane, one of
five four-passenger planes to be used in the new air service, will leave
the airport at 7, the time set by the passengers who have chartered the
plane. At approximately the same time this morning, a plane will leave
Detroit bound for Memphis.
Headquarters for the flight service will be the Book-Cadillac
Hotel in Detroit and the Peabody here.
Colonel Turner arrived in Memphis yesterday to complete
arrangements for the flight service which he organized as president of
the Roscoe Turner Aeronautical Corp. of Indianapolis.
"The planes have been chartered by executives in Ford, Packard,
Chrysler and other war factories who must be able to get around the
country quickly," he said. "In addition to helping them, we can offer
service to communities that have not yet had the advantage of aviation
flights."
