WHAT IT IS: Carroll V. Glines' ROSCOE TURNER, AVIATION'S
MASTER SHOWMAN is the first full account of the life of American
daredevil aviator Roscoe Turner, according to the Smithsonian
Institution Press. Glines is the author of 27 other aviation-related
books and is the resident scholar at the Doolittle Library at the
University of Texas in Dallas.
The author had complete access to Turner's personal papers,
photographs and memorabilia while compiling this biography. The book
begins with Turner's childhood days in Corinth, Mississippi, covers
his distinguished career as an aviator and even documents his life
after retiring from his air racing days. Hardcover, illustrated, 340
pages.
