Roscoe Turner was born in Corinth, Mississippi, in 1895. He
was a barnstormer, famous speed pilot, and distinguished pioneer
aviator. He was noted for his flamboyant dress and flair for
self- promotion. He won the Bendix, Harmon, Henderson, and
Thompson trophies and broke transcontinental speed records seven
times--more than any other person. Only he and Jimmy Doolittle
won both the Bendix and Thompson trophies. In 1952 Congress
awarded him the Distinguished Flying Cross for his outstanding
contributions to the advancement of flight safety and aircraft
        speed.

in five shipments, one in 1973, three in 1976 and one in 1977.
The papers were received in good order. Original folder titles
